The Toronto Blue Jays will have a few new faces in uniform as they look to bounce back from a lopsided loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Toronto recalled left-hander Patrick Corbin from single-A Dunedin and infielder Tyler Fitzgerald from triple-A Buffalo, the team announced. Both players will be active for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers (Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT), although Corbin will not be arriving in Toronto until Wednesday before making an expected start on Friday.
To make room on the roster, Addison Barger was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain and left-hander Josh Fleming was designated for assignment.
Barger was not in Toronto's lineup for Monday's 14-2 loss to the Dodgers after he was removed from Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox with bilateral ankle discomfort.
On Monday, manager John Schneider told reporters that Barger is trending in the right direction, but the team hadn't ruled out a stint on the injured list.
Barger's average has dropped to .053 amid a slow start to the season after having a breakout season in 2025, hitting 21 homers with a .756 OPS in 135 games.
Fitzgerald comes in to replace Barger after the Blue Jays acquired him in a trade with the San Francisco Giants over the weekend.
The 28-year-old Fitzgerald made 72 appearances with the Giants in 2025, hitting .217 with 10 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 14 RBIs. He also racked up nine stolen bases and seven defensive runs saved while playing second base.
Meanwhile, Corbin will take Cody Ponce's spot in the rotation for now, as Schneider revealed Ponce will miss at least six months due to surgery on his sprained ACL.
The 36-year-old Corbin made one start with low-A Dunedin on Saturday, working five innings of one-run ball while striking out nine.
As the Blue Jays manage numerous injuries to their starting rotation, Corbin figures to be a potential short-term solution.
A veteran of 13 MLB seasons, the 2019 World Series champion spent 2025 with the Texas Rangers and recorded a 4.40 ERA in 155.1 innings.
